Knowledge is Power!
Some of Latin music’s biggest stars have been added to the list of performers and presenters scheduled to appear on the gala 20th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina” (Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards), television’s longest-running music awards show. Celebrating 20 years of honoring the very best in Latin music, the ever-popular awards show will be broadcast live from Miami’s American Airlines Arena on the Univision Television Network on Thursday, February 21, beginning at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central).
Joining the previously announced lineup of performers are the two-time Premio Award winning bachata group, and this year’s most nominated artists, Aventura, winner of eight Premio Awards, Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes, and eight-time Premio Award winning international rock supergroup Maná.
Also announced as presenters are popular Mexican novela stars Patricia Manterola, René Strickler, and Angélica Vale, Premio a la Excelencia winners Gloria Estefan and José José, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, two-time Premio winner and most-ever nominated reggaetonero, Don Omar, singer/songwriter and winner of eight Premio Awards, including the prestigious Premio a la Excelencia, Juan Luis Guerra, and three-time nominated Urban recording artist Tito El Bambino.
Previously announced artists scheduled to appear during the 20th edition of “Premio Lo Nuestro” include Pepe Aguilar, AB Quintanilla III Presenta Kumbia Allstarz, Belinda, Elvis Crespo, Grupo Manía, Horóscopos de Durango, Enrique Iglesias, Los Tigres del Norte, Cruz Martínez Presenta: Los Super Reyes, Ivy Queen, Jenni Rivera, Olga Tañón, and Wisin y Yandel.
“Premio Lo Nuestro,” the highest-rated special each season among Hispanics in the United States, bestows awards annually to the winners from the five most popular Latin music genres - Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban - and Video of the Year. Nominees were selected from charts compiled by the prominent recording industry trade magazine Radio & Records(R) . The 2007 telecast reached more than 11 million viewers. Year to year, it consistently beats the combined average Hispanic audiences of the Academy Awards, Latin Billboard Music Awards, Emmy Awards, MTV’s Video Music Awards and the Golden Globes, among all major demographics.
Since last December, Hispanic music fans have logged onto Univision.com (keyword: Premio) to determine this year’s Premio lo Nuestro winners. Univision.com’s dedicated mini-site offers exclusive content before, during and after the Awards Show, including the latest news and photos, a video epicenter, as well as fully-loaded bios and music clips from featured artists.
