“The Mexican government is sponsoring a worldwide writing contest, asking Mexican nationals and descendants living around the globe to document their immigrant experience.

Mexican officials hope to get a better sense of how their former citizens live abroad, what drove them to leave , what challenges they face, and what they need to integrate and succeed, particularly in the United States.

“We want to show the migratory process is a human one,” said Ursula Rojas Weiser, coordinator of the Institute of Mexicans Living Abroad for the in Portland.”*
