Jose and Maria Becerra were out of space at their 1,034-square-foot home in La Puente in Los Angeles County. They couldn’t host large family gatherings. Their son, Gabriel, shared a bedroom with his grandmother, Maria. The cramped kitchen limited Jose’s cooking.
A month ago, the Becerras moved into a new 3,068-square-foot home in Rialto in San Bernardino County. They have hosted Maria’s seven sisters. Gabriel has his own room. His grandmother will eventually move into a first-floor bedroom. Jose cooks every night.”*
