Illegal Immigration Expected To be Big Topic at the State House - Indiana

Illegal Immigration will be a big topic at the Indiana State House over the next few weeks. Local legislators are considering a bill that could cause business owener who knowingly hire an illegalimmigrant to lose their business license. The bill was passed in the Senate last week and will now be moving on to the House. State Representative Sheila Klinker says after property taxes, illegal immigration is one of the most important issues legislators will deal with this session.

“I think certainly there will be a lot of discussion and maybe agreement or disagreement on that bill. Because it is controversial as it goes through the legislative process. I talked to several of the folks who own businesses here that are hispanic who are concerned by some of the parts of the bill that are there now,” said Representative Klinker.”*
