Dems battling for Latino voters in state – California

“UC Berkeley graduate student Gabino Arredondo, 30, enthusiastically supports Barack Obama, the candidate he believes will end the war in Iraq and put more funding into education. But down in East Los Angeles, his Mexican American parents plan to vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Margarita Gandía, a San Francisco information technology consultant and Cuban immigrant, is solidly in the Clinton camp. Gandía, 57, not only wants the Iraq war ended, the deficit reduced and the environment protected, she wants to see a woman in the White House.

These Bay Area voters are among California’s more than 2.7 million Latino voters and are poised to play a pivotal role in the state’s Democratic primary Tuesday, in which 1 in 5 voters is expected to be Latino.”*
