“Osceola voters made it crystal clear Tuesday that they want their School Board to better represent all of the county residents.

More than 60 percent of the voters said they want the board elected by individual geographic districts rather than on a countywide basis. Until now School Board candidates have had to compete for all county voters, making the races not only expensive but less representative of the county population. Though about half the county’s schoolchildren are Hispanic, a Hispanic has never served on the School Board. The problem is that only a quarter of the county’s voters are Hispanic, making any election tough.”*
