For the fifth consecutive year, Home Media Magazine is hosting its annual Latino DVD Conference, a full day of informational presentations and discussions dedicated to the booming Latino home entertainment industry in the United States.
Slated for Tuesday, April 8, at the InterContinental Hotel & Resorts in Los Angeles, Latino DVD 5 is produced by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, The Hollywood Reporter and the Entertainment Merchants Association.
With this year’s theme, Tuning in to Latino DVD, the conference will take a close look at the dominance of music behind Latino films from music-themed dramas and documentaries to feature films, supported by hot soundtracks featuring popular Latin artists. In addition, the confab will include panels about the Latin home entertainment marketplace at large, a market research session, a product showcase, luncheon, a talent panel with filmmakers, and a keynote address from a celebrity speaker.
The conference will also include a ceremony presenting the winners of the Fourth Annual Latino DVD Awards, which includes more categories this year. Submissions are due Feb. 15.
More than 250 attendees are expected to attend, including top executives with the major studios, independents, distributors, key retailers and other industry leaders.
“Over the past few years, the Latino DVD market has exploded with music-themed films, from The Lost City and El Cantante to Los Zafiros and Los Lonely Boys: Cottonfields and Crossroads,” said Angelique Flores, executive conference producer and managing editor of Home Media Magazine. “This year’s conference will take a look at the power of music in our films as well as other compelling trends and research in the Latino home entertainment industry.”
The event is open to the trade only. Advance registration fees are $295 for DEG and EMA members and The Hollywood Reporter subscribers, and $345 for all others. Advance registration ends April 7. After this date, registration fees are $345 for DEG/EMA members and The Hollywood Reporter subscribers, and $395 for nonmembers and nonsubscribers. Special press registration is available to credentialed media by contacting Kristina Kronenberg at kkronenberg@questex.com or 714/338-6743.
