“City officials hope a new pay incentive program will ease the translation burden on Holscher and the few other officers who speak more than basic Spanish. A new policy enacted last week gives them the chance to earn $2,500 if they get credentialed as Spanish court interpreters and an additional $2,500 if they stay with the city for two years.

The incentive program is open to all city employees but seems tailored toward the police department. Up to 20 of the department’s 115 employees can receive the prize under the new policy.”*
