“Being able to read to their children in English was the primary motivation for participants in a 10-week Latino Literacy Project at Valle Vista Elementary School in Hemet.

The first-time program at the school was advertised to parents once second-grade teacher Stephanie Wall, Sonia Wright and parent coordinator Sonia Flores completed the necessary training.

“I went to the training and it sounded like a great program tailored to Hispanic families to help improve their literacy,” Wall said. “Books are printed in both languages and relevant to the Latino population.”"*
