U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York won the backing of the Tejano Democrats at a weekend meeting in Austin. The group, chaired by former state Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos of Austin, attributed the endorsement to Clinton’s “extensive experience and history working in Texas.”
The group endorsed state Rep. Rick Noriega of Houston for the U.S. Senate seat held by John Cornyn, R-Texas. It endorsed Art Hall, a former member of the San Antonio City Council, for the Texas Railroad Commission seat held by Michael Williams, a Republican.”*
