Whether it’s the beat of the music or the wafting aroma of rich foods, a new attraction at the Florida State Fair is putting a new spin on the traditions of the annual event.
This year, it opens in Tampa with La Plaza, a Hispanic village nestled in the fairgrounds that will offer authentic foods, music and entertainment.
Fair organizers hope the village will attract more visitors looking to try something new or feel the familiarity of their home countries, in response to the Tampa Bay area’s booming Hispanic population, said Denise Shreaves, marketing and public relations manager for the Florida State Fair Authority. The fair runs Feb. 7-18.”*
