Knowledge is Power!
The National Society for Hispanic Professionals (NSHP), in conjunction with diversity job board LatPro.com, will once again be bringing its job fair series to Houston, TX to meet the needs of multicultural professional jobseekers and companies seeking candidates with language and cross-cultural skills.
With 42 percent of Houston’s residents identifying themselves as Hispanic or Latino, and over 640,000 Hispanics in the city’s workforce (source: U.S. Census Bureau), Houston has distinguished itself as an attractive recruiting source for companies seeking professional workers with Spanish-language abilities. Ricardo Villalba, Assistant Coordinator for the NSHP fairs, explains that when NSHP began planning its 2008 event schedule, Houston was among its top choices based on its workforce demographics, employer demand and the success of NSHP’s 2006 job fair held in Houston.
“More than 50 top organizations exhibited at the 2006 Houston event, including Pfizer, JPMorgan Chase and Medtronic,” said Villalba. “Our decision to return this year was largely due to the enormous positive response we received from past attendees. Employers were impressed with the quality of professional candidates attending the Houston event, and job seekers were pleased with the variety of companies represented, as well as the employer interest and interviews generated by the fair.”
Job seekers attending the 2008 Houston job fair can expect to see representatives from prestigious employers such as Aetna, AT&T, BP, Harrison County Hospital District, Sherwin-Williams and Verizon Wireless. Companies will meet hundreds of bilingual and multicultural professional candidates in a well-organized format that maximizes recruiting efficiency.
