“A week after Kansas City Parks Board member Frances Semler resigned, the Latino Civil Rights Task Force held a news conference Monday to address the issue.

Semler was criticized for her role in the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, an anti-illegal immigration organization.

“We felt it was a flawed appointment and a slap in the face to our community,” said Rita Valenciano with the Latino Civil Rights Task Force.
