“Health-care providers must do a better job of reaching out to underserved communities that lack adequate health-insurance coverage, a former U.S. surgeon general said Thursday during a visit to the Monterey Conference Center.

Antonia Novello, the first woman and first person of Latin American descent to serve as surgeon general, addressed more than 300 health-care professionals at a luncheon of the Community Hospital Foundation and its auxiliary.”*
