Released last month, the Pew Hispanic Center’s survey found that about 73 percent of Latinos said illegal immigrants benefit the U.S. economy; half said they have a positive impact on the Latino community.
At the same time, two-thirds said the debate and Congress’ failure to overhaul the system has made life harder for them. More than half worried that they or a loved one might be deported. Though the same number said discrimination hinders Latinos’ success in this country, about 8-in-10 were optimistic about the future of their children. “*
