Latin Heat Magazine’s Signs Conducts VIP Make-Over Contest

“-The excitement and glamour of Hollywood could be yours on Oscar night. Latin Heat Magazine, the only entertainment trade focused on Latinos will conduct a VIP Make-Over Contest as part of their media sponsorship of the Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science Oscar Night(R) America Gala. Young women ages 18 – 25 are invited to submit for a chance to win a total VIP Make-over by Clark Russell the Van Gogh of Hairstyle and Make-up artistry.

The Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) was selected out of 47 other non-profit Los Angeles Organizations to host the ONA – the only Academy-sanctioned community charity event in the city of Los Angeles. The event is scheduled for Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the Los Angeles historic Union Station. The gala will benefit the University’s extensive HIV/AIDS research and community outreach programs. Latin Heat Magazine has signed on as a media sponsor.

“With Latinas being the fastest growing group that is being infected by the HIV/AIDS virus, we felt that we needed to create an event that had a more far reaching effect on the public,” said Bel Hernandez, Latin Heat Publisher and CEO. “And what better way than to offer a total make-over to a deserving young woman.”

In an effort to bring more attention to the event Latin Heat – in conjunction with Clark Russell Salon of Walnut Creek, California – have joined together to hold the VIP Makeover HIV/AIDS Awareness Challenge. “We feel this will be a great opportunity for a woman to bring out her inner beauty and learn how stunning she really is”, said Clark Russell, Founder and Stylist Expert. The Lucky winner will be selected by a team of judges and announced on February 4, 2008. Here are the official guidelines:

Eligibility: Women age 18-25 are eligible to participate

All entrants must:
– Request an application form on www.latinheat.com.

– Provide proof of identity, age.

– Provide a current full body photo.

– Write a 300 word essay on:
How the HIV/AIDS virus has affected your community or peer group.

– Must be available for key dates:
Outfit selection and sizing (Feb 7)
Initial Makeover and photo shoot (Feb 16)
Prep and attendance of ONA (Feb 24)

– Must sign release form

– Must be willing to be photographed and video-taped during the transformation process

– Must be available to attend the Charles Drew University of Medicine & Science Oscar Night(R) America Charity Gala

Deadline: January 31, 2008

The postmark deadline for contest applications for the 2008 VIP Makeover is January 31, 2008. Winners will be notified by February 4, 2008. The winner must be available for key dates of the makeover and attend the Oscar Night(R) America held in Los Angeles, CA on February 24, 2008.
