Walgreen to acquire 20 drug stores in Puerto Rico

Walgreen Co. said it agreed to acquire 20 drugstores in Puerto Rico from a family-owned chain based on the island.

The Deerfield-based drugstore chain didn’t disclose financial terms of its accord with Farmacias El Amal. The Puerto Rican chain currently has 61 outlets, Walgreen noted, and the closely held company will continue to operate the remaining 41 stores after Walgreeen’s purchase of twenty.”*
