“Univision Radio announced today that after more than a year away from the New York market, Luis Jimenez, the # 1 Spanish-language radio host in the U.S., returns to the city to host his proven top-rated morning drive radio show. Big Apple listeners who missed Luis’ unique brand of over-the-top and outrageous humor can now tune in to Univision’s WCAA-FM beginning Thursday, January 17, when “The Luis Jimenez Show” will be broadcast in the New York market for the first time. The program will air Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“I am thrilled to be back to share a great time with my New York audience, whom I miss more than anything,” said Jimenez.

Currently syndicated in such markets as Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, and Puerto Rico, “The Luis Jimenez Show” features Luis Jimenez and his madcap crew following the same successful formula that on numerous occasions made his previous New York program the highest rated show in the entire market – lively sketches, wild stunts and song parodies, plus a litany of Latino guest stars from across the entertainment, sports, and political worlds enjoying a good time in his studio.

Joining Luis Jimenez are a couple of personalities familiar to his longtime listeners: Executive Producer Alma, plus DJ Chucky, the Music Producer behind the show’s infamous song parodies. Jimenez’ new team of zany characters includes Speedy, Yun-Yun, and Sonny Flow, plus Fay, his sexy, statuesque, and tart-tongued co-host.

Born in Puerto Rico, Luis Jimenez worked in radio on the Island and then in Orlando, Florida before coming to New York in 1993. As creator and host of the popular morning show “El Vacilon de la Mañana,” he became the most listened-to and groundbreaking radio personality in history in any language – “El Vacilon” became the #1 rated radio show in New York, often beating Howard Stern’s program (on terrestrial radio).

Jimenez also produced several “live” comedy shows at Madison Square Garden; co-wrote, starred, and produced a 2006 film comedy based on the radio show, and also made strides on TV as the official voice of the Spanish language versions of HBO and The History Channel.

“The Luis Jimenez Show” will continue to be syndicated across the U.S. adding several markets in 2008, and will be broadcasted live from Univision’s brand new, state-of-the-art studio in Midtown Manhattan”*
