Desperation seems to be an international tongue.
The first breakout hit of 2008 on Spanish-language television turns out to be “Amas de Casa Desesperadas,” Univision’s adaptation of “Desperate Housewives” with a multinational Hispanic cast.
Airing at 10 p.m. Thursdays (WXTV/Ch. 41 in New York), the debut of “Amas” last week drew more than 5.5 million viewers, enough so that Univision reran the opener last night by popular demand.”*
