The concrete on the top deck of the Montgomery Street parking garage shivered beneath the power chords of brothers Pedro and Alex Mendoza and the rhythms of drummer Gustavo Muñoz and his brother, bassist Hugo, on Sunday.
As the Disidente track rounded into its final refrain, frontman Alex’s (recorded) voice blared through the speakers out over the Savannah rooftops. Video crews from Savannah’s Dover production company caught the action and directed the musicians.
“Yo no pienso igual que tu, igual que tu,” I don’t think the same as you, Mendoza sang, echoing the song’s title. The take rumbled to its conclusion, bringing manager Maria Gomez to her feet with a yell: “Woo-wooo!”"*
