“Goya Foods marked the Christmas 2007 season with a record-breaking food drive and numerous charitable endeavors throughout the Tri-State area. In keeping with its decades-long commitment to supporting local communities, the family-owned Latin American Food company partnered with the New York Yankees on the baseball franchises’ annual food donation program for the 2nd year, donating 20,000 pounds of Goya food products and helping to distribute the nearly 74,000 pounds collected in total to Bronx families in need. “At Goya Foods, we understand that Christmas is a special time of the year; a time to celebrate family, give thanks for good fortune and, most especially, to help others who are in need of assistance” stated Rafael Toro, Director of Public Relations.

As part of its numerous activities Goya also partnered with the non-profit social service organization Hispanic Federation, donating 2,500 toys to its annual “Three Kings Day” toy drive. This annual holiday drive, which celebrates the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6th, was a tremendous success resulting in the collection of over 5,000 toys which were distributed to over 30 agencies throughout the Tri-State area. Goya employees independently engaged in a similar effort with the Salvation Army of New Jersey where nearly 1,000 toys were collected and distributed to the needy in Union City. In addition, Goya Foods also served as a proud sponsor of El Museo Del Barrio’s “Three Kings Day Parade” with Rafael Toro serving as an honorary “King” for the 31st annual parade which commenced at the museum and wound its way through the streets of East Harlem. “Goya Foods is honored to actively support and participate in these activities that give back to our local communities and strengthen the fabric of families throughout the area. We hope that through these efforts, we can keep the true spirit of Christmas alive throughout the year and encourage others to do so as well,” concluded Mr. Toro.
