Q: I have been learning Spanish and attending a Spanish-speaking church. I am appalled by the way so many people think of Spanish-speaking human beings as “illegals” and want everyone to speak English. If you want to be technical about it, all “Americans” — excluding American Indians — are illegal.
Every person needs to know English to “be American”? Are you kidding me? I am ashamed of the white man’s treatment of people of other cultures and of those who say every person should be “Americanized.”"*
