Fourth is not a bad place to be, considering all the high-profile candidates he was up against. Besides, going from 2% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses to 5% in New Hampshire seems like a decent increase. But obviously, it wasn’t enough to keep him in the race.
In officially announcing the decision to end his campaign, Richardson said he felt confident of the influence his bid for the presidency had in the race for the White House, stating that the next U.S. president will most certainly implement many of the ideas he brought to the campaign during the past 12 months. “Our nation and the world will be the better for it,” he said.”*
