No need for rush job on immigration – (the Indianapolis Star takes a rational approach: “Legislature needs to take time to study how a proposal targeting illegal immigrants would affect businesses and the economy.” and gets burned in the comments)

“Promising to crack down on illegal immigration is a popular stand for politicians to take, especially in an election year. But members of the Indiana General Assembly should be cautious about rushing into such a complex topic in a two-month session already filled with property tax and local government reform proposals.

State Sen. Mike Delph, R-Carmel, has introduced legislation that would punish employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. Businesses could even lose their licenses to operate in the state if they hire workers who came here illegally.”*
