Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has yanked illegal immigrants in his Tent City jail off work release programs, saying that is is violation of Arizona’s employers sanctions law which took effect Jan. 1.
“Why would you place an illegal to go out and work, especially when we have a new law, the employers sanctions law?” Arpaio asked Thursday, referring to the law which sets strict penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.”*
