Chicanos group dropping out of HIV-AIDS care program – Arizona

Chicanos Por La Causa, one of the Valley’s largest Hispanic non-profits, is pulling out of a program that helps people with HIV and AIDS, even as the minority group is one of the fastest-growing demographics affected by the disease.
The decision left county and program officials scrambling to find another Hispanic non-profit to pick up the services, which range from managing cases to behavioral-health and nutrition programs. The programs are funded through the Ryan White CARE program, which gives about $2 billion per year to local governments to help about 500,000 people nationally who have HIV or AIDS and don’t have adequate health insurance or are low-income.”*
