A turning point in the state’s history will be replayed at 1 p.m. Sunday when costumed actors re-enact the signing of the Treaty of Cahuenga, which ended the Mexican-American War in California.
The Articles of Capitulation were signed by Lt. Col. John C. Fremont and Gen. Andr s Pico on Jan. 13, 1847, on the kitchen table of Tom s Feliz’s six-room adobe at Campo de Cahuenga. The treaty allowed the Californios who fought for Mexico to return home after giving up their artillery and immediately freed all prisoners from both sides.”*
