Retailers look to cash in on fast-growing Hispanic community

“Retailers are “trying to extend the season” when it comes to holiday sales. Retail consultant Howard Davidowitz, the chairman of Davidowitz & Associates says that includes “doing everything they can as far as Three Kings Day.” With that being such a major holiday in the Hispanic community, Davidowitz tells Steve Potisk that “any national American chain who’s not focused on the fastest growing American community is crazy.” Davidowitz says Wal-Mart is leading the way in this effort. But he adds that despite that and hopes for gift card redemptions, this will prove to be a “soft” holiday season.”*
