Knowledge is Power!
Tears were streaming down the cheeks of Mexican actress Adriana Barraza in the darkened auditorium at Miami Dade College North Campus.
This was no performance by the actress, nominated for a 2006 Oscar for her role in Babel. It was her emotional send-off for her students, a group of 34 aspiring actors — most of them from Latin America — who took part in the first Spanish-language acting workshop sponsored by NBC Universal Telemundo.
The 300 hours of acting, movement and speech classes — crammed into three months — ”are going to help you be better human beings,” Barraza said Tuesday evening at the class graduation ceremony. “Being better human beings, believe me, will help you become better actors.””*
