A year after the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid at the Swift & Co. plant in Grand Island, business may be back to normal, but psychologically, people are still looking over their shoulders in fear of federal agents.
On Dec. 12, 2006, ICE agents swooped down in full force on the Swift & Co. plant, arresting 252 people for violations of the nation’s immigration laws.
While the plant was up and running soon after the raid, it took more than four months for the plant to fully recover the loss of trained employees arrested by federal agents.”*
