Veteran store owner Jesse Moskowitz likes to brag about being the second New Yorker to buy a Fania record.
“You know, Jerry Masucci himself [co-founder of Fania] came to the store one day, and when I bought an album he told me I was his second client ever,” he recalls.
The owner of Record Mart — the just-reopened legendary Latin music store in the Times Square subway station — is standing behind a blue Formica countertop, his long black hair combed back with gel.”*
