Soda Stereo’s reunion tour is nimble and fun

“Soda Stereo took in all kinds of influences during its 15-year run, 1982-1997, as a trailblazing rock en Espanol band. But what stands out today is the Buenos Aires trio’s fascination with the ’80s. The Soda Stereo reunion tour is sounding a lot like a new-wave revival.

On Wednesday, for the second night in a row, the Argentinian rockers played to more than 10,000 people at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena. The lyrics in a set lasting nearly three hours — punctuated by the crowd’s soccer-stadium cheers of “Soooda”– were almost entirely in Spanish. The dominant musical idiom, though not the only one, was Anglo.”*
