As every aspect of our lives becomes increasingly dependent on technology, the need for American engineers grows greater every day. Even our leisure activities like watching TV and playing video games require a certain level of technological know-how. Beyond that, everything from climate change to our communication devices, national defense, economics, medicine, education, transportation and even agriculture have technological components that need competent individuals to fill the jobs continually created by emerging technologies. And it is imperative that we have a pipeline of bright, young, forward thinking students who will conceive and develop tomorrow’s technology. So where will we find our engineers of the future?
Look to Georgia – the state with the fastest-growing Hispanic population in the US – and her flagship engineering university, the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Georgia Tech realized decades ago that worthwhile technological advancement is possible only when diverse individuals contribute to the conceptualization, research and development of an idea.”*
