The annual Las Comadres 2007 Holiday Shopping Guide is now available featuring 75 businesses that carry everything from Venezuelan chocolate to Latina Dolls. What makes this guide different from the rest is that it caters to millions of Latinos across the USA who are searching for gifts that reflect their culture and lifestyle. So, if you’ve ever wondered where you can pick up a Dia de Los Muertos purse, a Gordito T-shirt or Pancho Claus ornament this guide is for you.
“Las Comadres is passionate about sharing our Latino culture and traditions,” says Nora Comstock, President and CEO, “and we are excited to release our 2007 Holiday Shopping Guide with vendors whose products embrace and understand our lifestyle.”
For example Los Pollitos Dicen (www.lospollitosdicen.biz), a T-shirt line for children with bilingual sayings, captures the culture using sweet and funny colloquialisms by Latinos to describe their babies. Sayings include Candela (Spitfire); Gordito (Chubalicious); and Pío Pío Pío (Peep Peep Peep), amongst others. Each package includes a card with lyrics to the lullaby, Los Pollitos Dicen, a traditional Spanish lullaby sung to generations of babies all over Latin America.
Crafty Chica (www.craftychica.com), aka Kathy Cano-Murillo, who can be seen on LifetimeTV.com, carries a fabulous, glittery line of Chicano pop art such as a fun funky purse with Dia de Los Muertos images, Frida Kahlo ornaments and our Lady of Guadalupe earrings amongst an array of goodies. Crafty Chica also has a line of craft books for decorating your own casita.
CasaQ (www.casaq.com), a Hispanic lifestyle company carries an array of products but is best know for its extensive line of hand-painted glass Christmas tree ornaments that reflect the Latino culture. Two exclusive designs that were chosen to be featured in the 2007 Latin GRAMMY celebrity gift basket, “Pancho Claus” a Santa riding on a piñata and “Sancho Snowman” a guitar-toting snowman wearing a poncho and sombrero, proved to be a big hit with the international Latino artists.
