The new head of the Jornaleros Project’s board of directors is vowing to work hard to reopen the humanitarian program, which closed for lack of financing.
Juan Pablo Ramirez took over from Linda Silva as chairman of the cash-strapped program’s board of directors.
Opened in 2002 as a collaborative effort of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Rockland Immigration Coalition, the Jornaleros Project provided free food and shelter, and social, educational and health outreach to day laborers.”*
