“An immigration forum at the University of Missouri got emotional last night when one panelist suggested that some of the estimated 13 million illegal immigrants could be removed by “attrition through enforcement.”

Kris Kobach, a University of Missouri-Kansas City law professor, supported new laws in some states that require local law enforcement and employers to check for undocumented aliens.

“I wonder if you had ever gone to a community center and sat there and looked at the realities of the people,” said Renée Díaz, a community member who said workers who return to Mexico and come to the United States legally have a harder time finding jobs than illegal immigrants.”*
