Hispanic and Housing in the United Status

Tagged:

“U.S Hispanics are projected to represent 40% of the first time home buyers in the coming years. Much of this growth has come from immigrant households creating a great demand for “starter” family homes. Hispanics continue to gain ground and in March 2007, Hispanics passed the 50% homeownership mark.

Despite the real estate slump Latinos continue to be a driving force for the troubled housing market. With the subprime difficulties, Hispanics are being hit hard. They represent approximately 40% of these mortgages. Studies from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac report that anywhere from one third to one half of Latinos that have a subprime loan, actually qualify for a prime loan.”*
