Sylvia Perel admits that she didn’t know what she was getting into when she blithely started the International Latino Film Festival in Marin 11 years ago.
“At that time I was a little naive,” she confesses with a laugh. “I called my friends and said, ‘Let’s do it. Let’s start a film festival.’ Like most people, we didn’t know how much is behind putting on something like this. The amazing thing is that that first year was a big success.”
That first festival consisted of 10 films shown at the Lark Theater. This year, the 11th International Latino Film Festival – Nov. 2 through 18 – presents more than 70 films at 14 venues in Marin and throughout the Bay Area.”*
