Knowledge is Power!
Sylvia Perel admits that she didn’t know what she was getting into when she blithely started the International Latino Film Festival in Marin 11 years ago.
“At that time I was a little naive,” she confesses with a laugh. “I called my friends and said, ‘Let’s do it. Let’s start a film festival.’ Like most people, we didn’t know how much is behind putting on something like this. The amazing thing is that that first year was a big success.”
That first festival consisted of 10 films shown at the Lark Theater. This year, the 11th International Latino Film Festival - Nov. 2 through 18 - presents more than 70 films at 14 venues in Marin and throughout the Bay Area.”*
