“Five Mexican legislators from President Felipe Calderon’s political party received cell-phone calls threatening the kidnapping of family members, underscoring Mexico’s struggle to quell violent drug and kidnapping gangs.

The threats were made during today’s legislative session, said Alejandra Chombo, a spokeswoman for the lower house of Congress. House Speaker Ruth Zavaleta warned legislators of the threats as she concluded the session early, Chombo said.”*
