It’s mid-Monday morning in San Francisco’s Mission District, and if you walk past 23rd Street and Folsom, you’ll hear the sound of children. And if you happen to wander into Parque Ninos Unidos, you will see the children singing, clapping and laughing. Los Tamborcitos Spanish Music Class is the reason why.
At a typical meeting, between 20 and 40 adults and children gather in the clubhouse area of Parque Ninos Unidos. Strollers line the outside of the park, as the music starts — songs about days of the week, the weather, colors and, of course, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” all in Spanish. Los Tamborcitos not only entertains the attendees for the half-hour classes, but also teaches the adults how to use the activities outside of class.
Los Tamborcitos Spanish Music Class is for children and their caretakers — parents or nannies — sponsored by First Five San Francisco. Every Monday at 10 a.m., adults and children come to Parque Ninos Unidos to attend the class and to socialize with the new and returning members. “*
