Although there appears to be interest in the works of Latino artists from San Diego and Tijuana, the market for Latino art is in crisis on both sides of the border.
Two independent galleries in the region will soon close their doors: Expressions of Mexico in Barrio Logan, and Galeria H&H in Tijuana.
Expressions of Mexico, which concentrated on promoting Mexican art in San Diego, will close Friday due to financial problems and few customers, says gallery owner Carmen Velásquez. It would have celebrated its third anniversary in December.”*
