“Hector De Peña Sr.’s courtroom was a place residents could count on to be fair with a personal touch, his daughter said Saturday.

De Peña, a former Nueces County Court-at-Law No. 2 judge, died Saturday. He was 93.

De Peña tried to start a law practice in San Diego in the 1930s but came to Corpus Christi after a few months, said his daughter, Carla De Peña-Cook. He was among early Hispanic attorneys in Coastal Bend, she said.”*
