Cuban General Del Valle Dies

Gen. Sergio del Valle Jimenez, a doctor in Fidel Castro’s rebel army in the late 1950s and army chief of staff during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, has died, state media reported Friday.

A short article in the Communist Party newspaper Granma did not give a cause for del Valle’s death late Thursday or say how old he was, but he was at least in his 70s. “*
