University of California-Riverside summit to study ethnic diversity at graduate level

Tagged: , , ,

““Latinos and African-Americans are under-represented in the ranks of researchers, scholars and professors,” said UCR spokeswoman Kris Lovekin. “It’s important to get more students with ethnically diverse backgrounds into Ph.D programs so they can be hired as professors at universities.”

According to UC Provost Wyatt Hume, the UCR summit will highlight a broader interest within the UC system “to serve all segments of California’s population” and “produce graduates who will function well as members and leaders of a state that has been characterized by robust diversity.””*
