A controversial debate on immigration held by the Pomona Student Union culminated Thursday in a loud vocal protest that drowned out the debate’s final minutes.
Jacob Hornberger, a libertarian and founder of the Future of Freedom Foundation, and Marvin Stewart, current president of the Minuteman Project, Inc., debated U.S. border control before an audience of around 600 people, including reporters from NBC/Telemundo and the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin newspaper.
Hornberger called for completely open borders and advocated the economic and social benefits of a free market, while Stewart focused on the economic repercussions of immigration on lower-income citizens, especially blacks.”*
