A leader of Mayor Daley’s Hispanic Democratic Organization was sentenced to 15 months in prison today for lying to a federal grand jury that he never tried to get city jobs or promotions for political workers.
John Resa, 49, a Southeast Side coordinator for the group, was its first member to be charged in the ongoing federal investigation of HDO.
Resa apologized to the judge. His attorney had asked for him not to receive prison time, noting Resa had to take care of an elderly father, suffering from dementia, and three children.”*
