A group of conservative Hispanics, some of them entrepreneurs and community leaders, gathered Tuesday in east Orlando to lend support to the idea that Gov. Mitt Romney could be their presidente.
They attended a luncheon at Caridad Restaurant in the largely Hispanic neighborhood surrounding Semoran Boulevard to listen to Al Cárdenas, the Cuban-American lobbyist who used to be chair of Florida’s Republican Party.
Cárdenas, who is leading Romney’s Florida Steering Committee and pushing the candidate’s agenda among Hispanic voters, spoke in Spanish to the crowd of nearly 30 supporters — telling them that he came out of retirement to stand behind “a leader who will be competent” and share the community’s values.”*
