Boro Beat: Futuro calls some to Puerto Rico while others party here – New York
Tagged: Puerto RicoPosted on: November 13th, 2007
While a flock of politicos and assorted folk at last weekend’s Somos el Futuro (We are the Future) conference in San Juan were “conducting business” poolside, a bunch of Bronx Hispanic movers and shakers were partying Friday night over at Joe’s Place on Westchester Ave. at what they billed as a “No Somos el Futuro” gathering barside.
The funfest of “Los Que Se Quedaron” (Those left behind) was organized by former borough and state economic development jefe Joe Ithier.
It was also a good excuse to celebrate the “30-something” birthday of Josette Pagan, community relations manager over at Health Plus. One Bronx Democratic Party higher-up told us he skipped the San Juan junket because “I have a real job.”"*
