Cristina Tzintzún admits to being torn about commenting on tensions between Mexican-heritage citizens and Mexican immigrants who are in the country illegally.
It’s not that Tzintzún, a Mexican American who counsels immigrants who have been cheated out of their wages, denies there is friction. Instead, she said, making too much of the issue unfairly holds people of Mexican heritage to a higher standard of tolerance — a standard that fails to acknowledge the larger historical context of immigration in America.”*
