Senator Gravel moved to Alaska after he received his B.S. in economics from Columbia University. In Alaska, he built a real estate business before pursuing politics. He served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1963 to 1966 and was later elected to two terms in the U.S. Senate. He represented Alaska from 1969 to 1981.”*
